Montgomery plaza

Project: Renovation of Montgomery Wards site including retail for at the first floor, parking garages, and commercial shell buildings thought the site.

Develop architectural working drawings, special detail to the retail facade and the plaza layout.

This was a fast paced project full of surprises and challenges. The main feature was create a frame to highlight the plaza. This include the demolition of the back docks and the bottom part of the connecting original structure. For this a Sand structural reinforcement of the 2 remaining floors

One of my responsibilities was the construction documentation of the plaza patterns.

After the docks demolition we discover a 3 ft height concrete beam that force us to adjust the interior plaza storefront elevations. An interesting detail is that the original roof tiles were re-used as an accent thought out the project.

The retail on site was tilt-wall panel construction. We incorporate the new buildings with the renovation using the same finish at the columns and the same awnings.
