senior center - patios

This image is the view from the inside of the building through the storefront door. The main corridor ends in a water feature, emphasizing the circulation path wide enough for wheelchairs and walkers. Seating areas and elevated planting beds encourage the patients to work on the vegetable garden, or as a social gathering.

Project: In collaboration with Sabina Signature Landscapes was the design of relaxing and peaceful areas as a part of a Memory Care Center (Alzheimer patients).

The green areas goals were to provide a calming effect in the facility with a green touch and water features

There are several interior patios where there where no drainage. For a solution, we proposed self-contain removable planters inside the fixed-in-place decorative planters. Also, we suggested elevated seating, allowing the rain run-off towards the existing trenches.

This small interior patio is near the dinning area, allowing the patient to eat either inside or outside

Near the kitchen, we proposed a vegetable garden, where a canvas screen creates a comfortable area for sitting or gardening. The planters are on three different styles to accommodate the patients' needs, standing, seating, or wheelchair.

Some of the rooms have windows facing a wall or a neighbor, and the client wanted a window planter, we develop this idea but also suggested as an alternate to have a green wall along the exterior corridor.
